The weather in Florida can be strange. With summer temperatures reaching passed 100 and winter temperatures not usually getting below 60, you might find yourself spending more time inside in the summer and outside in the winter. Especially if you are visiting from colder climates, the winters in Florida will be beautiful. Below are things that can be enjoyed just about any time of year, but especially in the winter.
1. The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park
The Bach Festival Society of Winter Park does some performances all year round. They also do an annual Christmas Classic. This show consists of the Bach festival choir, youth choir, and Orchestra performing classic holiday songs, and it is held in Knowles Memorial Chapel. This year the performances will be December 15 and 16.
2. See a Show at the Winter Park Playhouse
The Winter Park Playhouse is Central Florida’s only professional musical theater. Now until December 16 they have the Winter Wonderettes playing. Then after a long break for the holidays them come back January 25 with Ain’t Misbehavin’.
3. Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens
This museum was founded in 1961 and its been exhibit is American representational sculptures. The gardens house over 200 of Polashek's works. The museum also has an indoor space where they feature contemporary art of all mediums. This is a good way to enjoy the nice days of a Florida winter outside or outside.
4. Lake Baldwin Park
This park covers 23.16 acres along the coast of Lake Baldwin. It is the only park in the city that is considered dog friendly, and they have a separate fenced in dog park. The park also has two pavilions, a boat ramp, picnic tables, benches, and a restroom. Lake Baldwin Park is a great place to spend an afternoon with or without your pets.
5. Scenic Boat Tour
This is a one hour boat tour around the chain of lakes in Winter Park. The tour starts in Lake Osceola. The dock is just 5 minutes from Park Avenue, on of Winter Park’s most popular shopping districts. If you are doing this one in the winter, you might want to bring an extra layer, it can get chill out on the water.
